Summer was here at last! Biddestone fete was lucky to have glorious sunny weather; quite a change from last year’s downpour! There was a great attendance including keen fans who setup chairs in prime position for listening to the band. We played two sets of varied music from all our genres including Highland Cathedral, The Muppets and Star Wars! The fete was even started by a short fanfare performed note-perfect by solo trumpet.
Our short interval involved a mad-dash around all the stalls, with some picking up great bargains of children’s games & books – others focused on Cream Teas or ice-cream.
This was a new location for the band to perform – in the elegant grounds of Dauntsey Park House. It was such a pity that the weather didn’t match the surroundings as it continued to be very windy and there was more than a little drizzle. We played a varied repertoire of music from bandstand traditional tunes to theme music and light swing. Even Hawaii-Five-0 featured, giving our drummer the spotlight!
The directions given to some of the band upon entering was “just behind the Dragon!” – a fantastical bouncy castle.
With unfortunate timing, the heavens opened moments before the start of the Fete, and showers continued throughout the afternoon, meaning the band’s playing at this event had to be cancelled.
